Very thin, firm base down low, slightly icy in spots. Totally possible to bareboot with simple traction aids. Higher up the snowpack is deeper, but still quite firm. Saw lots of people using yaktrax / stabilicers the whole way up, and not one person postholed. Summit rocks were coated in layer of knobbly ice - possible in well-cramponed snowshoes, but real crampons or other traction aids worked better.
