Catskills, 4/23,24

Audrey, Pat and I will be hiking Blackhead and the Black Dome Range on Saturday, 4/23 from the Big Hollow Road trailhead. We'll spot a car on Barnum Road. We expect a start time of 8:30 to 9:00 or so. Sunday we'll do Windham High Peak from Peck Road continuing over Burnt Knob to a spotted car at the end of Big Hollow Road. Similar start time.

Just so you know, the TAP NY festival (http://www.tap-ny.com/) is going on this weekend at Hunter Mountain Saturday and Sunday so if you finish early enough you could stop in (I'll be there - judging).

I would join you, teejay audrey and pat, but I'm not doing another Catskill hike without the promise of a VFTT! I'm zero-for-six now, and not interested in going zero-for-nine. (They tell me the views are awesome, but I wouldn't know). If the WX reports improve, I'll reconsider!

If the weather's bad this weekend you should really save this hike for another day because the views are superb! I would suggest doing some bushwacks instead or maybe going to explore some Catskill waterfalls if it rains hard.

The weather forecast for this weekend is dismal, at best. So, sadly, we're going to have to put our plans on hold 'til another day. The mountains will still be there.
