Started with Plateau. Barebooted until about 2900-3000'. Microspikes were adequate for the remainder -- maybe one spot where crampons would have been more comfortable, but not worth the trouble. At about the same elevation on Sugarloaf we changed to crampons. Still lots of ice on Sugarloaf, but it's melting fast. It was a bit of a pain wearing crampons, as there were many intermittent sections of bare rock and/or mud, but just when you thought it would be safe to change to m-spikes or bare boots, you would come to another significant ice flow, one of which was after the flat, grassy section near the summit. Fantastic mid-70's "winter" day in the Cats. (Leave the snowshoes home!)
