Point to point hike starting at Slide parking lot, off rte 47. End at Woodland Valley Rd @ Woodland Valley Campground. 7 to 9 inches of snow the entire way. Packed snow to top of Slide Mountain due to many visitors requiring only boots.
Back side of Slide to Cornell and Wittenberg, trail was broken by boots. Could have done the entire hike in boots but decided to use snowshoes simply to get them off our backs. No ice encountered so no need for crampons or microspikes.
The Chimney was not a problem either. Keeping warm in the bitter cold was the main challenge. A good hike and nice to finally have snow to play in
