Route: Champney Falls Tr -> Piper Tr -> Mt Chocorua Summit -> Brook Tr -> Bee Line Tr -> Bolles Tr
Champney Falls Tr: Snow started showing at about 2700 ft. and became intermittent monorail.
Piper Tr: Dry. Very easy to follow the prominent yellow marks on the rocks.
Summit: Dry.
Brook Tr: Dry. Much spottier yellow marks.
Bee Line Tr: Largely dry with a few muddy spots. Dirt path very comfortable to walk on.
Bolles Tr. Free of snow. Many long muddy stretches. At the old logging-camp site, there were two obsolete winter signs saying expert only, do not travel alone … beyond that point. North of the height-of-land, great care needed to follow the trail at the 10 crossings of Twin Brook .
The Champney Falls Tr parking lot was almost full at 14:20, but with only one car (mine) at 18:50.
Special Equipment Required:
Snow shoes or crampons – negligibly useful.
Hiking poles – helpful
