Trail Conditions: very muddy, both on the "official" trail to the Uphill Brook leanto, and on the herd path from there to the summit. Very steep in spots. The herd path was easy enough to follow, and we had a GPS waypoint for the summit. As described in various places, the summit marker can be found after going over the first, false summit and just following the meandering herd path 'til it ends. There are two markers on the summit - a broken wooden sign and a plastic marker as well.
Special Equipment Required: gore tex boots, gaiters, poles, gps helpful.
Comments: thanks to Tim for taking on this summit with me after we'd already summited Mt. Colden, and spent quite a bit of time on top. We departed Colden Dam for Cliff rather late, 3:15 PM, and were back down just before 6:00.
Take care not to confuse the Cliff and Redfield herd paths - this has been known to happen. =)
THANK YOU to all who have worked clearing the 1999 blowdown from the herd path! It is greatly appreciated!
