Saturday, 5/24 and Sunday, 5/25: Opalescent bridge was closed, so Allen was out of the question. Snow spines intermittent from Upper Works to Flowed Lands, more frequent from Colden Dam to Uphill Leanto. The Opalescent roared furiously through the flumes and cataracts. It was below freezing overnight at the Uphill Leanto.
The herd path to Cliff was in great shape. There were AWESOME views all the way up Cliff, even on the summit! Black flies were a nuisance but few were biting. The long slog back to Upper Works was very wet and muddy, but it was a great day in the woods.
