Great article AND website!! It's comforting that there are so many others who enjoy the companionship of their dogs while hiking. My dog is my favorite hiking companion,,,,,,,,,

Agreed. I'm glad they emphasize the importance of health & conditioning.
If I ever took my mini dauchi with me on a hike I would end up carrying her the entire hike in my pack. She thinks an effort to jump down off the bed walk to the couch and jump on. My next dog will be a dog capable of hiking though.
