Folks,
I realize that most people will never go here, but that's what made this trail so nice. We did a 4 day hike and covered about 50 miles. We saw 2 poeple only. There was plenty of water although the stretch between the Falls and Balhead that was a bit thin. The shelter are in good shape, although this trail seems to locate shelters far from the nearest water source.
The trail is confusing in parts and follows a web of ATV trails, snowmobile trails, dirt roads and hiking trails, but you should expect this on the CT. It's pretty and has a fairly moderate route, avoiding many of the steepest peaks. Folks should be self-reliant and well versed in how to use a compass. It's important not to lose your head when you get lost, which you occasionally will on this trail. If you enjoy remote backpacking in the high country with varied hiking and a sense of adventure, you'll love this trail.
This is a treasure not to be missed!
