Trail in great shape going up to Lake Arnold. A few muddy spots I brought gaiters but didn't need them. I gave blood on this trip the black flies were so bad that I almost wanted to jump off the top of the Mt. I used DEET but that doesn't do a thing for black flies. The trail down to Lake Colden was very steep, I didn't have a clue how steep this would be. It was wet in spots and I didn't trust my boots walking down the rock. It was a long day but I really enjoyed being outdoors. The wind did help keep the bugs off but if it stopped it was brutal. Avalanche Lake is absolutely beautiful, this was a reward in itself. Saw quite a few people on the peaks around us.
