Trail conditions were perfect- hard packed snow with 1-3" dusting of fresh snow on top. Microspikes to Colden and back. Switched to Snowshoes at the base of Gray, and kept them on for Skylight and Marcy. By the time we got on top Marcy it turned into a perfect bluebird day. Back to Microspikes halfway down the VanHo trail. 11 hour round trip- much easier than the Santanonis a couple weeks ago!
3-4' of snow-pack at higher elevations- you know in a hurry when you step off the trail.
Carried crampons and ice axe- neither needed. Snowshoes were more than adequate for all sections.
