Date of Hike: up Sat. 4/5; down Sun. 4/6
Trail Conditions: slushy Saturday, firm Sunday. Stream crossings okay; use caution up near the shelter and falls; the remaining ice and snow bridges are getting thin.
Special Equipment Required: Barebootable, but we found snowshoes much easier. Trekking poles helpful as always.
Comments: the falls are still partially frozen, but are lovely, as are the numerous smaller cascades above and below.
Almost startlingly blue ice to the right of the falls. Clambering into the "ice caves" behind that blue ice was an unexpected treat. Thank you to fellow MOACers Andi B and John L for a wonderful early spring backpack.
