Coppermine Trail side path

ABout 1/2 mile up the Coppermine trail, I noticed a very curious path that led up the side of a hill, and was in very good condition. The Coppermine Trail continued to the right, and the side path went off diagonally to the left. I was wondering if anyone knows where this leads to. It looked wide enough to be a snowmobile path. I walked up a part of it because I saw a sign, and it said, "trail jucntion ahead." That's what made me think it was a snowmobile trail. Does anyone know how far it goes, or where it leads to?
