Does anyone know what this means? I heard either forest service or AMC people talk about "covering the bridges". Does anyone know if that just meant placing FS/AMC people near them to monitor the bridge conditions because of the high water and/or the people crossing them, or something else? It originally sounded like they were doing something to protect the bridges but that term made no sense to me in that context.

TIA,
Keith

I know that in my area that if they believe that someone has fallen into our local creek, particularly this time of year with the water high and fast, they will have volunteers posted at the bridges downstream as part of the rescue effort. They also hang cargo nets off of bridges further downstream to help in body recovery. Unfortunately this is where the victim is usually found.
