Ice right from the parking lot up. Lot very icy, untreated since the rain/freeze. Put on Microspikes at the start of the switchbacks, wore them the rest of the way. No value in snowshoes, crampons would be overkill. Some two-three inches of snow over the ice, especially on the ledges, improved the walking. Used poles the whole way, no significant water crossing issues, first stream was easy to walk over, limited views from the top, snow showers. We need some SNOW, to bury all this ICE, here is hoping for a good Jan,Feb & March of snowshoeing,Happy New Year p.s. trail to stairs does not appear recently travelled.
