Hi my friends & ennemy.

The December 28, few minutes after 7 a.m. from the summer Seward parking, Junior signed for Donaldson.
We know We have 2 groups of rabbits in from us, one for Seymour and a other for Seward & Seymour.

Few time before Caulkins junction We passed the Seymour group (5 peoples on skis). When We arrived at the junction, the 2 other rabbits did turn in this direction. Around half way before the Donaldson path We catched the 2 rabbits.

The snow condition was around 3" new snow over good old snowshoes tracks from the december 22 group (they hiked Donaldson). Half way in the path, the snow was a little bite more deep and the snowshoes grove not always easy to find!!!

We arrived on the Donaldson summit and started to Emmons, We are in the cloud with very few visibility!!!We are able to summit the Donaldson shoulder and started the way down, very difficult with the small trees covered of snow and curved in the weight of the snow to read the road and stay in the path.
We losed the path  and with a compass try to stay in the good direction.
The snow condition was variable but more time We hiked in unconsolidated snow and the snowshoes drup around 12"!!

We summit a hill but without the yellow summit marker We are sure We are not on Emmons!!!
O.K. We take the decision to turn back, few time after We meet the first rabbit, this man had a GPS and tell us "the path is not too fare in the wright direction". A couple of spruce traps after We returned in the path. Slow progress and a couple of check time to be sure We stay in the usual path and We summited Emmons but only after more of 5 hours hiking!!!

We introduced Junior to Peter and Peter to Junior and Me.
Peter tell me "I will stay here for my friend if You meet him tell him this thing."

Junior & Me We restarted with the option to stay in the usual path too Donaldson, We made a couple of dead end and finaly We find Where We lose the path, at this place We saw the Peter friend was turning back!!!

In Donaldson Junior check the clock and He saw it is late too late to go for Seward!!!

We turned left in Caulkins path and 15 minutes later We meet a couple go up with the goal Seward. We give the information the Seward path is not broken!!!! But They stay with the same goal.

And other 15 minutes later We catched the Peter friend, He tell us He was stayng a message in the snow to Peter in Donaldson summit.

We signed out after a day hike of 8 hours 20 minutes, happy for Donaldson and Emmon but with a stange taste in the mouth for Seward. ;)
Junior the philosopher tell him without Peter and his gps We probably hiked nothing (Donaldson) Thank You Peter.

The december 29, under a nice rain We drive in a slushed snow to return at the trail head parking. One car was there and the people signed for Seymour & Seward range for 3 days. We made a slow preparation, the truck We saw before arrived with 3 peoples, one was a man We meet last year when We build a bridge in Allen path.

Few time after We started the rain stop but the water from the trees do not stop to fall on us. 2" of wet snow covered the snowshoes tracks. Fortunately half way in the path the snow change gradualy and the snow was dry now. 20 minutes before the Donaldson-Seward junction We enter in the cloud, without visibility.
At the junction We take the compass to give the north-east direction. We are happy to see the new snowshoes tracks go down. May be Peter or the couple summited Seward yesterday. A couple of dead end later, around 300 steps the snowshoes tracks turned back  . O.K. Now We know the work is in from us.

It was impossible to stay alway in the usual path but with the compass and the count steps technical We know We progess in a good direction. We go up the wright hill and go down in the other side after many slawloms. We saw a icy cliff and We thing We recognized the small gole where We need to go up.

Few minute later We see a branch was cuttind by a saw, the energie was doubling... We never lose the summit after We arrived here before.
After the small col, We can not find the usual path, We go up, arrived at the higher point but without the yellw disc marker!!! Turn, turn, fall and fall in spure traps but alway without the yellow marker!!!!

We returned near the last icy rock where We are sure we are in the path, at this time junior tell me "shout your mouth and stop to make a noise with your nowshoes" I stay the mouth open without a word!!!!
I saw the Junior ears change the shape and same a radar, Junior tell me go in the left slowly and stop avery 10 steps. O.K. I trust the rabbit when I can not make other thing.

What do You earing Junior. CHUT!!! O.K. Go straight, turn left. YE!!!! the yellow marker was here. After a hard shout SEWARD!!! I thing I eary a bear make a shout, but He probably thinking it is just a bad dream!!!! :D

All right We need to return now. We saw We made a long approach with a few time in dence forest but We summited. We meet one of the 3 men, this man need only Seward the 2 other need all the Seward range. This man tell us "I stay in your crazy tracks". Junior tell him "yes stay in the crazy tracks and You will summit Seward but stay in the left track when You will arrived in the last col"

We stop at the Donaldson-Caulking junction to eat and drink and go down very happy.

After a day hike of 7 hours and 41 minutes I can signe out.

P.S. If You go for Emmons always stay in the right snowshoes tracks, if You go to Seward always stay in the left snowshoes tracks.

P.S. 2. In the car after We arrived in the highway, I ask Junior what do You ear in the forest to help me. He tell me "the tears of the yellow marker...."it stay too long time without friends!! :
Why You did not made the same thing Yesterday?? "Yesterday I was earing the sound of the fog in the spuce needle it is a too nice music..." O.K.

P.S. 3- Do not try to drive the road without a 4 wells drive car, it is very icy.

Have a good night.

Only one person in the world, with the help of an intelligent rabbit, could have found the summit of Seward.

Nice seeing you today on Whiteface--a complete opposite hike, with a nice trail all the way.

Hi my friends & ennemy.

E.W.P.C. ???

No Junior it is not a new jazz radio station!
Non Yvon la derniere partie veut pas dire au P.C. :D
Yes Joe it is Esther-Whiteface-Porter-Cascade, but You have a great piece of information!! You met us in Whiteface!!

After 2 days in the cloud with the stress to broken the trail, Junior tell me "I think You need a easy day. Why not to go for Whiteface & Esther."
Wie do not take a chance We start around 7 a.m to do not have rabbits in front us.
The first half part before the Esther junction was very hard snow with a trace of new snow.
After the old snow comming lite bite soft but with a perfect support.

Because We know the wind suppose will go down We start with Esther.

In the Esther path around 2' new snow except where the wind blowing the snow at the egality with the path shore.

In the Whiteface trail after Esther same condition before the road and without snowshoes tracks from this place to the trees limite. We need to broken this part but fortunately it is a very short part.
Over the trees line icy snow, not necessairy to use the crampons, few wind and without view.

When We go down We meet may be 10 or 12 peoples and the second We meet was my friend Joe.

Time to this trip 4 hours, 22 minutes.

We stop at the base camp to eat a lunch and Junior ask to return in the mountain, O.K.

We take the decision to go for Porter & Cascade. same snow condition but many peoples go up before us. We meet few peoples without snowshoes  and ask if They can use the snowshoes please.

Over the trees line in Cascade very icy, many peoples did not stay in the icy rock and the vegetation was not realy happy of this thing!!!!

Time for this second hike: 2 hours 21 minutes.

Pinpin Junior.
