Lake Road was well packed and there was a group of 2 in front of us who were breaking trail up the HG Leach trail. Beyond them, the trail was unbroken, it varied a lot from 6” to 20”. Sometimes the depression of the trail was visible, in the windswept spots it was all blown in. Headed out via Elk Pass to Lake Road. Trip took 10 hours. Wore snowshoes all day, no need for crampons.
