Trail from 73 to the Boquet lean-to is in very good shape. Trail up Dix is a little muddy in spots with some pockets of rotten snow in others, but generally is not too bad. No traction devices needed, gaiters could be worn if you want clean pants.
East trail up Noonmark in very good shape. No mud, only great views.
As far as the bugs go, no black flies to speak of (I only got one bite, saw maybe three flies in two days). Gnats were swarming when stopped, but not really biting.
