This report will be short and sweet because my partner has report duty. Mimi, Eric, Rick, and I broke trail from Round pond to the top of Dix. It was a long hard day dedicated to a great kid. We were so happy to reach the summit of Dix on a day which entailed serious trailbreaking.
So the route from 73 to Dix is broken. On the way out we came across a group of folks at the lean-to, so the path is totally packed.
Snowshoes and poles a must. We carried crampons but did not need them. Be prepared for wind and cold temps. at the top, you will be exposed.
Great route if you like to climb. Beautiful views and great woods.
