Dix Range (from Elk Lake) 6-21-08
Trail Conditions: AWESOME! Trails are in beautiful shape. Mud holes never rose above a 1 on the Boot-sucking scale. Even the herd paths have been cleared. No way to get lost up there these days! Brush is pretty closed in however, so I was soaked from the minute I stepped onto the herd path up Macomb. The slide was very stable with just enough moisture in the dirt to hold it together. A couple of thunder storms moved through and I hid out just below Hough as they moved by but by the time I was on Dix, the sun had returned.
Special equipment: Gaitors, poles, raingear!
Comments: PinPin crossed my path as I was coming back from East Dix (he was headed out there) Then came from behind and passed me by as I was headed up Hough. Man that rabbit can hop. Very few people on the range today.
