Corey’s road was plowed to the summer trailhead. An easy walk to the turn off for Caulkins Brook (marked by an upside down metal bucket on a tree). Caulkins Brook crossing was frozen and passable. Beyond the brook crossing the previously established trail was blown/snowed in with 6”. The trail to Donaldson and Emmons was completely blown in and we broke trail out to D and E. With the hikers that came after us there should be a well packed clear trail from the summer lot to Emmons. The temps were low today (3-5) and we were lucky to only be exposed to the high winds at a few points – the ridge from D to E and then the final bit heading up Seward. Headed back to Donaldson and then off to Seward. There is a bit of a maze of paths out there, we did get to Seward and blocked off the bad paths with tree branches on our way back out. Going towards Seward, if you always stay right I think you'll be okay. Time to head out, snow was excellent for descending, just enough give without too much grip, made for quick going. In snowshoes all day, carried the crampons, but no need for them. Finished the day with a beautiful sunset and then a full moon helped light the way out.
