Trail Conditions: Water crossings on Downes Brook straight forward, some icy rocks though. Downes Brook Slide trail: some icy and wet sections on the lower slabs that I avoided by bushwhacking. The upper trail is very steep but easy to follow and is in excellent shape with few blowdowns.

Walden trail to Oliverian Brook trail is steep and rough but was much warmer than the slide. I hiked the x-ski trail from the Oliverian Brook trial back to the Downes Brook Trailhead. This was real treat at the end of the day as it passes through a large open area with great views and a patch of larches that are turning golden.

Special Equipment Required: It's getting colder on the summits. I was happy to have my light parka for my lunch break on the Passaconaway summit.
