We've heard that speeding doesn't get you there much faster, right? Well If only going 100 miles then that is close. 60 MPH would be 100 minutes, 75 MPH would be 80 minutes.

Now if you have a 500 mile trip, 60 MPH is 8 hours 20 minutes, 75 MPH is 6 hours 40 minutes, you saved 1hr 40 minutes. As the mileage increases, it begins to make more sense, time only considered. (it's less safe) It's about the distance from Hartford to Pittsburgh, or Hartford to BSP, well BSP may be farther.

We don't drive that much unless crossing all of New England that often, therefore no need to get up real early, speed or stay up real late, all factors involved in accidents. If I recall correctly, we also have higher seatbelt useage. Most of the NE states have higher income, therefore, newer cars & better maintained cars. Fair amount of five star safety cars, including a higher % of Subaru's & Volvo's in this area than other states.

If they do the study by miles driven, I wonder if the results are different.
