The interesting (and somewhat ironic) thing about the dam going out is that it revealed a small older dam that had been submerged behind the newer dam. This older dam is certainly even more historic than the larger dam was, and if the larger dam was rebuilt, then no one would get to experience the older, more historic dam anymore.
The dropping of the water level also revealed a lot of history. When we were there a month ago, we found all kinds of old tools, logging equipment, even a pair of old stainless steel glasses on what had been the lake bottom:
All the broken glass of course makes me shudder when I think about the times I'd gone swimming in Duck Hole barefoot!
