Date of Hike: 04-05-08
Trail Conditions: All trails were well packed and mostly firm even under an inch or two of slushy new snow. Some of the stream crossings were open but low water levels made them easy to negotiate. Chimney by-pass had some ice that was easily managed with ten pointers.
Special Equipment Required: Crampons very helpful for steeps going up to East peak and the chimney by-pass. Redundancy on gloves and jackets in a futile effort to stay dry.
Comments: Overcast conditions and lots of dripping from overhead branches but still a great day to be out. Saw two skiers on the hiking trail and two snowshoers on the ski trail - go figure!
