We hit the trailhead around 11:30Am (much later than I usually like). The route we took was 1.3 miles up Greeley Pond trail, to Mt Osceola Trail to the summit of East Osceola. The first 1.3 miles is a very moderate grade, and only a bit muddy in spots. The 1.5 miles to the east peak starts moderately during a walk through a very nice birch forest, just starting to show signs of early spring. Once you get into the pine there is an interesting view of a cliff to the right and the trail gradually gets steeper. After about .8 miles we started to see a few spots of snow left over, most were fairly easy to navigate around. There is a great look out over Greeley pond at about 1 mile where we stopped for a long rest. Snow didn’t slow us to badly until the last quarter mile approach to the east summit which we reached at 2:30. The weather looked a bit questionable and it was later in the day than we thought it would be so we didn’t attempt the 1.0 mile to the other peak. – maybe next time. The trip down was slow going due to the rain that came in, and the spots of snow. Trekking poles where helpful, but no crampons where necessary.
