Here is a great site http://www.ebird.org/content/ . You can record the birds you see. The information is kept as your personal record as well as populating database used by Audubon and Cornell for there studies. Win-win. Lets say you are hiking and you see a Three Toed Woodpecker and White winged Crossbill. You can list when and where you saw the birds. Your personal list is maintained ( alot like peakbagging). This is a free site.

Puck,

I'm a birder too.
Do want to be sure we don't get too far into birding threads, though.

PB

ps saw my first California Condors up close in the Grand Canyon last week.

I quess I don't understand  We can talk about wolves, bear, dogs, foliage, flowers...but not birds? They are sometimes my only company on a hike (that I know of that is ;) )
