Elk Lake Road

Does someone know when they close Elk Lake road.
Planning to hike the Dix range tuesday or wednesday.

It will be open until October 27. From October 27 until December 8 (hunting season), trails on the Elk Lake property are closed to hikers. You can still access the Dixes from Rt 73 trailheads or Marcy from other trailheads. After December 8, you can park at Clear Pond and walk to the Elk Lake trailhead--an easy 1.8 mile walk.

I think the closure might begin Saturday Oct.. 26th - that's the day regular deer season opens in the northern zone, according to the DEC website.
