The EMS Spire backpack:
http://www.ems.com/catalog/product_detail_square.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442583904&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302160951&bmUID=1142859488221
is on sale at EMS for $35. They have very limited quantities though. So far I have seen 1 per store. I've been using the Spire for over a year and I really like it. For an internal frame backpack that can handle 35 lbs very well, it is ridiculously light. The material looks flimsy, but it is ripstop and I haven't had any problems with it in a year. It used to be like $140 then it was $99 then on sale for $49 and now with an extra 30% off it is $35. I bought Carmel one. I'd buy myself an extra one to have when mine dies (I like it that much) but I haven't found a large at any of the 4 stores I have been to.
Bottom line if you want a light backpack ~2500 ci then go find one. $35 is nuts. You can't order it online, so you have to search local stores. If find a large at a local EMS, can you pick it up for me? I'll give you the $35.
