Up & back from the ARC, halfway to Esther on trail broken by another hiker yesterday, then breaking through clumpy windpack -- hard work -- out to Esther summit & then onward to Whiteface. Two hard-earned peaks.
About a foot of snow at the trailhead, and several feet higher up. Some drifts up near where the Wilmington Trail hits to auto road are upwards of six feet deep.
Long story short: it's snowshoe time. Lots of snow clumped onto the branches & such, too -- not easy to stay dry up there.
