Constant steady rain ascending Falling Waters, that became heavier at times. Poles, rain gear, and sturdy boots a necessity. Reached Haystack at 1pm and the limited views of mountains and fog and clouds gave the summit an etheral beauty. With the continuing rain and the forecast for thunderstorms, turned back at Haystack.Returning, once you pass the sign for Shining Rock, the trail was filled with puddles of water and flooded in some places. The rocks are slippery. The steady rain turned into a downpour, when I started to pass the waterfalls. The forest is especially beautiful when it rains. The waterfalls were awesome.
