Trail Conditions: with impending storm things are bound to change..mostly for the better as some of these trails badly postholed by barebooters

Avalon: packed out to A-Z jct..no traction needed..Avalon to Field..snow depths increase quickly above 3000 feet.. booted out trail misses a turn here and heads straight up old route meeting the regular trail above..snow 18-24 inches in places above 3700 feet..

Willey range to Willey: some deep snow pockets and a couple of windblown areas..snowshoes helped here and widened and smoothed the trail

Willey range to A-Z ..very narrow and deep bare boot track..followed a snowshoe track that wandered back and forth across the trail with good success

Mt Tom Spur: well packed out..micros perfect..snowshoes would struggle

A-Z: well packed out though narrow..snowshoes useless..used micros down to the car which made for smooth sailing

a few blowdowns around..toughest one near the deep gully on A-Z

Equipment..could have barebooted i suppose and fresh snow would cover your sins..Saw one very apologetic barebooter near field who sheepishly continued on his post holing way..nice guy..just wasn't expecting snow???

We used a combination of micros and snowshoes which worked out fine

Comments: mostly in the clouds and raw today..had a few window views towards carrigain..love that summit cairn on Willey
