The week before this, we spent in western Maine, peakbagging. We were pretty tired, but we felt we could do this hike for a worthy cause.

We stayed at the KOA Friday and Saturday night with several other flag bearers.

The hike Saturday was pretty easy, up a nicely graded trail from Tripoli road. We were up to the top in about 2 hours. We dropped the gear and headed right over to East Osceola and said hi to the crew there. They eventually came over and said hi to us as well.

The flag was up and flying by about 11:30, and stayed up till about 2:30. A TON of people showed up, (80-100), and about half were aware of the event. The rest got an earful from us, with the first few getting the business cards we got from the event organizers. Everyone was positive, and several people came up and shook our hands and/or offered profuse thanks for what we were doing. It was pretty cool! :)

The weather was overcast, and it threatened to rain, but it never actually did. The views were mostly of Tri-Pyramids. We did get a view of 5 military cargo planes lumbering thru the valley. The only other flag we could see was East Osceola. After the hike, we headed back to the campground and hung out with Chip and others.

Never forget!

Good going Tom (and Laurie)!!

It was nice to see you again at the KOA!! I believe it was exactly a year ago at the KOA that I last saw you. Osceola holds special memories for me as it was my first 4K! :) It's sister peak is interesting too!

Best,

man - I don't know what I was thinking, I knew chip was going to be there, but I got caught up in conversations at the ROT site and then we had our 2 year old with us and it was time to go. Wish I could said hi to you guys.

Would have loved to met the legendary views and brews man! ;) :D

I was drinking waschuset summer ale that night - pretty much only sold in central mass I think. Not sure if you ever had that before. Nice tasty light ale. I also had some shipyard pumpkin head in the cooler ;)
