This was my first hike along the east end of Flat Mtn. Pond Trail. Many years ago, I hiked the other end. This trail is beautiful. I've never seen so much hobblebush, and so big! Some of it was 10' high, with leaves the size of dinner plates. This is exciting to me because moose love hobblebush, so I wandered around through it quite a bit. There's tons of moose sign. It was wonderful and I'll be back. The trail is not heavily travelled and beautiful.

Here's a nice little feeder stream that crosses the trail...

Happy Trails :)

Beautiful! You have a way with the lens. What "shutter speed" did you use to smear the water?

I love reading your posts. You always have the best pictures! We saw turtlehead today too, while hiking Isolation. Thanks to your post, I now know what they are! :D Thank you! :)

Flat Mountain Pond bushwhack

There is a real nice "bushwhack" that leaves the east end of the pond just as the trail hits the pond, its a bit wet to begin with but very rapidly turns into an old railroad bed (complete with some relics). If you follow it long enough you encounter "lost pass" and a nice hidden pond.
