Hey,
I've been sympathetically chuckling at Blue's dilemma, as she works out how to get her team across the Gale River tomorrow.
Then I remembered that on my 55 mile Maine AT section hike next weekend, I'm likely to get my feet wet as well. Then MATC, you see, is well known for leaving nice river crossings unbridged. In spring, they can been a bit scary, apparently. In fact, we will be waiting for the boatman to get us across the Kennebec.
For the lesser rivers, I'm just bringing some crocs and an extra pair of socks. And I'm hoping the creeks don't rise too much while I sleep. Is this strategy enough, or should I be gearing up for a Tyrolean traverse?
