trails: fourth connecticut lake trail
conditions: there is a designated and signed parking area on the right just past the turnaround before the border station. according to the sign hikers no longer need to check in before beginning the hike. the trail leaves on the border swath to the left just past the border station and is well signed. the route along the swath was rough, damp and a bit slick in spots. at about .7 the trail leaves the swath and does a loop around the lake. trail was wet and bog bridging slick, but never too muddy.
equipment: nothing in particular.
comments: interesting hike along the swath and nice loop around the lake. some good views to the surrounding peaks.
