I think you should pop up before work some morning and check it out

I haven't tried that particular route but many trails in the area are a trough of packed snow without the roots or loose rocks found in summer.

It actually wouldn't be a bad idea for runners who use spikes in fragile Alpine areas to make their speed attempts in February rather than August. Of course Fish&Game requests that they carry a sleeping bag and stove like other solo above-treeline winter hikers
