https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sre...key=Gv1sRgCMzugdLe2Pivbg&feat=emailRob-Linda- and I knew that the weather conditions might not be the greatest , but we started out at 5:00 a.m. for this hike. We left with headlamps on going up the Friday mt. ridge and enjoyed listening to the owls hooting back and forth. We made it to the Friday mt. lookout by sunrise, but we were not greeted with the sunrise that we hoped for. But it was still very nice seeing the storm approaching. We made our way to Balsam Cap with some snow falling, and over to Rocky with even more falling. The forecast of highs in the 50's and 30 % chance of rain went to the wayside. We knew that it would be 10 or 15 degrees cooler in the hills ,so we were well prepared. From Rocky to lone it became a Winter wonderland with wet snow sticking to the trees and us as we bushwhacked through the thick wet snow encrusted Spruce. We became quite wet as we bushwhacked from Lone to Table. We always carry extra gear on our hikes even in the warm Summer months and it payed off. We had to change Gloves hats etc. from going for quite a few miles on this fairly long bushwhack. It would have been easy to get hypothermia in those conditions-wet snow -wind and cold temps. We were fine though.Great day out with friends and I did take a couple of pictures.Pictures end up coming at the top of the report.
