Access road to trail head is closed for the winter. You have to park on Tredeau Rd on the north side of Rt 3. This makes it a long hike (13.7 miles round trip from Rt 3 to summit of Gale Head).
The trail conditions were perfect; trail broken out nicely; packed powder. Snow shoes necessary; I used them the entire hike from the trailhead and back. The trails are well marked with signs at the junctions. I did not see any trail blazes.
