Parked at Four Corners which has room for a few cars. Road walk goes from plowed to a couple of inches to snowmobile track. All streams have a frozen over route, road and trail. There was plenty of new blowdown on the trail of varying types which I worked on mostly on the way back, some of it also haven been worked on by two women who came up after me (see below). All but the big trees have been taken care of in the middle and upper stretches, and these larger trees mostly need to be walked around. I ran out of time to get the nuisance stuff in the lower trail, but there are several large spruce firs in the lowest area which are wide walk arounds. A chain saw is probably needed to clear them but if someone brings a saw they could finish the small stuff. A couple big blowdowns are high enough branch removal worked. Lowest part of trail has little snow and can be barebooted. Upper part really needs snowshoes and while it is packed down it is not well packed due to the snow’s consistency and windrifting
The mighty tough little dog had to work to get up to the peak through the new snow as it snowballed on his fur and iced his paws a bit despite the musher’s wax. We were delighted to meet Larisa and a companion just as we were leaving the peak. They were going over to Lincoln and then down Bridal Path – awesome hikers. The little dog shot down the better packed trail on the way down and snowshoeing down was fun. It should be good hiking tomorrow.
