Participants: Rocket 21, MEB, Mats Roing, Farmer, Juniper, Hamtero
Parked at Five Corners which got the plow treatment just as the group started assembling. Rocket hit the trail earlier than the rest of us, so had trailbreaking honors for the first 2.5 miles or so through the fresh, soft powder from the weekend's storm - probably 14-16 inches or so. All water crossings were sturdily frozen and nearly all snow snakes were snuggled under the ever-deepening snow blanket.
Some deeper drifts up above 4000 ft, particularly as you approach the junction with GRT and head up towards the summit - waist high in places. Fortunately it was light fluffy snow and we had a Farmer with us who likes that sort of thing. It was cold, but the winds weren't too bad at the summit or anywhere along the way - definitely better than we were expecting.
A light snow was falling all day and the forecast was for a little more each day this week, so probably a short life for this broken-out bit of trail.
