trails: long trail, bushwack
conditions: rt. 242 out of montgomery is undergoing construction that may lead to delays, but none today. the long trail was wet with some slick rocks. i walked it for about .8 to the ridge at the south end of gilpin then turned back north and bushwacked over an intermediate bump before ascending to the highpoint on the mountains north end. woods were pretty open with some tall ferns and wet sloppy sections. plenty of moose paths as well. found a limited view to the east near the summit. on the descent i dropped directly down to the long trail finding mostly open woods with some wet muddy areas and plenty of tall ferns.
equipment: nothing in particular.
comments: after a morning hike of cold hollow i figured i would take advantage of being so far north and go for a second shorter hike. a nice walk on the long trail followed by another mostly open woods bushwack was great way to cap off the day. great to be out.
