Temp was about 32 degrees at the parking lot under blue skies. Very windy with strong sporadic gusts.
Still about a foot or more of snow on the mountain. White Dot Trail was well-packed with some bare spots on rocks. Barebooted it to just beyond the halfway point, and put on crampons for the remainder of the way as the trail got steeper and icier. Other hikers were just using Stabilicers or YakTraks and seemed to do OK, but crampons definitely were not overkill on some sections.
Extremely windy above treeline, with gusts in 40-50 mph range.
With spring less than 24 hours old, but daylight savings time in effect, it was nice to be descending after 4 p.m. in bright sunshine, with several more hours of light to go! All in all a mix of winter and spring conditions making for a great hiking day.
