Date of Hike: 12/29/07
Trail Conditions: Moderate amounts of snow on first mile or so (flat portion), then areas of deep unconsolidated snow. Two stream crossings low down that were a bit tricky. Exposed rock and ice on above treeline area to summit.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes from car to car. A few people wore crampons on above treeline section.
Comments: Deep unconsolidated snow plus a few steep sections made it hard work with a group of 11! The snow did not pack well; snowshoes are still definitely required.
As noted in another thread, the drive was easy.
[note]I am aware that the summit of Goose Eye is in Maine, but we came from a NH trailhead after spending the night in Gorham, NH, so I posted it under NH Trail Conditions.[/note]
