The Bull Branch Road is easily passable to the trailhead. The Wright Trail was hard to follow in spots, due to fading blazes and extensive leaf fall covering the treadway. We managed fine, but did miss the turn for the North Fork so did the loop in reverse, climbing up to the ridge east of Goose Eye and then descending through the cirque. The steep ledges above and below treeline are wet; many wooden steps and puncheons help but you need to be careful descending in the steep spots because the wood is often wet, slimy and slippery. No problem with any of the stream crossings.

A nice day despite early overcast and a brief spell of light rain. Views from the Top of Goose Eye and the ridge were excellent. The foliage is mostly faded and fallen up high, but down in the valley it is still bright and beautiful!

5 hrs. 17 mins. for the loop.
