Anyone bound for Gothics on Saturday should find it easier now. Above the Lost Lookout junction, soft, unbroken, knee-deep powder had drifted in and covered earlier tracks. Chris, who finished on Allen last Saturday, did an awesome job breaking trail. The summit ridge was spectacular. The massive cornice looked like trouble. However, it was wind-packed and able to be walked on. The sun was out and the wind had died down, so we could linger and take in the views. In at 8:00, on top at 1:30, out at 5:00. 5 ½ up, 3 hrs down. Beth plans to finish on Haystack on Saturday. I'll pass. They're going from the Garden. Too long for me. Brenda only recently started the 46 and has already done many big ones. As for me, any day in the woods beats any day at the keyboard. If I'm in good company and it's something different, or something I haven't done in while, even better.
