Trails: ADK Loj to Marcy Dam, Lake Arnold, Feldspar Brook and back same way
Trail Conditions: All Hurricane Irene damage repaired except for an occasional bridge that did not matter. Herd path from Lake Tear of the Clouds easily located with cairn at outlet from the pond. Herd path plenty muddy and a little gnarly here and there.
Bugs: Black flies were bad enough to use DEET, which I wish I had not so stubbornly resisted. Worst above 3500 ft
Distance: 16.3 miles
It was a beautiful day to be in the woods. The walk along the Opalescent River between Lake Arnold and Feldspar Brook was quite pretty, and the bridges were more than sufficient to keep your feet dry. The beavers were busy at the junction of the two streams, but had not made a mess of anything yet. Wonderful views from the top of Gray, though it was a little hazy.
A long day to cross another off the list. #39 for me.
