Sat. Dec. 26th: Arrived Loj parking lot around 7 am, had a short chat with some hikers headed for Phelps, waved to two old buddies, High on Life and Val, headed for Trap Dyke.
Started for Gray at 7:30 am, the trail to Avalanche Camp was solid and well traveled. From here the trail was covered by a few inches of fresh powder. The powder increased to three or four inches as I proceeded to Lake Tear of the Clouds. Someone was ahead of me all the way to Gray so traveling was very easy.
The track up Gary is well defined. The snow is soft on top but firm underneath. I had great weather conditions, sun, no wind, and some clouds. The views were great of Marcy, Skylight, and Colden. Someday I will get a Webshot account so I can post pictures.
I returned to the parking lot around 4:10 pm.
