Trail: Greenleaf Trail to Greenleaf Hut
Date: 3/16/08
Trail Conditions: Packed base with 3-6 inches of powder
Special Equipment: Snowshoes to prevent postholing and maintain trail integrity. Crampons above hut. Poles.
Comments: This trail had not been traveled for a while much beyond Eagle Pass. We saw tracks heading right at a switchback below the Pass and wondered where they went, but didn't follow. A four-legged hiker had been on the trail before us, joining in just above the pass. I'd forgotten to bring my crampons and didn't feel I wanted to continue above treeline with just my snowshoes so went as far as the hut this trip. Turning around, though, gave us time to stop at The Mountain Wanderer in Lincoln and pass some time talking to Steve. We picked up three books for our library; one we had wanted for a while while the others were two that we didn't know about until we saw them there! Great selection!
