Trail Conditions: muddy. The Pleasant River was knee deep, an easy crossing. There's a two-log bridge near Screw Auger Falls, higher over the water than we liked, no handrails, a bit slick. One of us waded.

Special Equipment Required: gore tex boots and gaiters essential. Trekking poles. Camera highly recommended! A few skeeters, but I didn't bother with bug dope.

Comments: the water was high and the falls were roaring. Sun in and out of the clouds all day, a light sun shower after we exited the gulf and turned back. A wonderful day. Thank you to Kathy B., Mary Ann M., and Kevin P. of MOAC, for great company, LOTS of good food, and a memorable one-night trip. Photos www.pbase.com/jonathantr.
